Web Sites
Each web site should be initially taken for what
it is: raw, unfiltered, unprocessed information of questionable
quality that anybody (qualified or not) can put up on
the Internet. Though many sites exist that have good content and
good quality, many more exist merely for the purpose of exacting
money from your pocket, swaying your opinion, or extolling the
virtues of the Web Pages maker. Unlike a published book or
journal that goes through a timely process of
"filtering" and critical review before it is published,
a web page can be put up overnight by anybody with access to a
web server. It is up to YOU to do the filtering and critical
review. Note these basic questions when reviewing web pages: Critically reviewing a web page.
The following web pages are relatively good sources for information. However, each page should be critically evaluated using the criteria in "Critically reviewing a web page" before being used as a source.
Victorianism:

Texts & Contexts
http://paul.spu.edu/~hawk/t&c.html
Dedicated to the expansion of knowledge regarding influential
texts and authors throughout history. It attempts to provide a
wide range of authors. Note, however, that nowhere is listed the
qualifications of the authors. You may be surprised at what
business the authors are actually in. Look carefully.

Scott Small Library, College of
